Determine Key Pressure Parameters
- Confirm actual system pressure: Assess the pipeline's rated working pressure and peak surge pressure; do not rely solely on nominal pressure ratings for selection.
- Incorporate a safety factor: Ensure a safety factor of at least 1.5 is applied during selection to prevent fitting failure caused by pressure fluctuations.
- Categorize pressure ratings: Classify into four standard ranges: low pressure (≤1.6 MPa), medium pressure (1.6–10 MPa), high pressure (10–40 MPa), and ultra-high pressure (>40 MPa).
Match Materials to Pressure Ratings
- Low-pressure applications: Copper alloys or standard carbon steel are suitable for meeting general water transport and ventilation pipeline requirements.
- Medium-pressure applications: 304 or 316 stainless steel is the preferred choice, offering a balance of strength and corrosion resistance.
- High-pressure/Ultra-high-pressure applications: Materials such as Grade 45 steel or alloy steel are mandatory; overall rigidity is enhanced through increased wall thickness and the design of reinforcing ribs.
