Preferred worm types for heavy-duty conditions
Toroidal Worms (Double-Enveloping Worms)
Core Advantages: Features a double-enveloping meshing structure; the contact area is significantly larger than that of standard cylindrical worms. Transmission efficiency can reach 90%, and they offer exceptional torque capacity and impact resistance.
Specific Applications: Straight-profile toroidal worms (TA type) are commonly used in high-power transmission scenarios such as rolling mills and marine machinery; plane-enveloping toroidal worms (TS type) are suitable for high-precision, high-torque machine tools and heavy-duty robotic joints.
Circular-Arc Cylindrical Worms (ZC Type)
Core Advantages: Utilizes a concave-convex meshing tooth profile. Load-carrying capacity is 20%–40% higher than standard cylindrical worms, and transmission efficiency exceeds 85%. Multi-tooth simultaneous meshing ensures more uniform load distribution.
Typical Applications: Widely used in scenarios requiring continuous, heavy-duty operation, such as hoisting machinery, metallurgical equipment, and chemical mixing devices.
Conical-Enveloping Cylindrical Worms (ZK Type)
Core Advantages: The tooth surface is formed by the envelope of a family of conical surfaces, resulting in a large contact area and high load-carrying capacity; manufacturing precision is easily maintained.
Typical Applications: Suitable for standard heavy-duty conveying and crushing equipment in industries such as metallurgy and mining.
Involute Worms (ZI Type)
Core Advantages: High tooth profile accuracy and transmission efficiency. High-hardness tooth surfaces can be achieved through gear grinding, making them suitable for high-speed, heavy-duty, and precision transmission scenarios.
Typical Applications:Commonly used in heavy-duty applications requiring both precision and high load capacity, such as machine tool main drives and aerospace equipment.
